Coloring with Papa

Azzy has become quite the artist. . . . She loves to color and play with stickers. I absolutely love it when she wants me to color with her! She will ask for “lellos," which to her mean crayons. Since I took these pictures, she has a learned a couple other colors, but other than blue and purple, her crayons are all still yellow. With her being as smart as she is, I’m sure she’ll know all the colors in no time at all.
Azzy was coloring at our kitchen table one night when Jim got home from work. She immediately pointed to his chair and said, “Papa! Lello!” It was so sweet watching Jim color with Azzy. I absolutely love watching him with her. I never got to see him being a dad to little kids being that we are a blended family, so I soak in all the softness he exudes when he interacts with her. And of course, Azzy has him wrapped around her little finger.
They probably colored for a good fifteen minutes before Azzy moved onto the next activity. But for 18 months old, I was amazed she stayed still that long. I know this time will go all too quickly, but for now I will enjoy every minute of coloring with Azzy.
Scrapbooking Tips
This layout was a labor of love. I had a sketch from Allison Davis that I loosely based my design on, but I envisioned a background of crayons and made my photos work within that idea.

I cut out the crayons using card stock scraps from The Stamps of Life - which gave me the beautiful rainbow colors. I kept the colors in rainbow order, but wasn’t sure what to do with the pinks so I put them next to the purples.
I purchased a crayon sketch font and cut out my title to mimic the look of crayon writing. I loved the extra touch it added to my crayon theme.

The crayons were so bright and bold that I knew I had to embellish very carefully. I punched hearts from my scraps and then stitched on some of the larger hearts to add some texture and details. I adhered them with foam adhesive to add dimension.

To keep the photos from blending into one another I actually sanded the edges with a sanding block I bought at The Dollar Tree. I knew I didn’t want to mat my photos, but I also wanted them to have some type of border. You can see the fine white line between these photos. It’s just enough to make each photo stand out.
Hopefully there will be many future layouts of Azzy coloring and maybe even scrapbooking with Mimi . . . .
