I can't tell you how much fun I am having scrapbooking pictures of Asmerelda! When my step-daughter had a baby girl, our world changed for the better. Azzy brings a whole new level of crazy chaos and fun to our family. Not only is she just the most precious, smart and amazing little girl, I am thoroughly enjoying watching our family get wrapped around her little finger. Jim is a sweet Papa, Alexis is a good mommy, and it is fun watching Alyssia, Caleb and Zach become an aunt and uncles.

Although Easter 2023 was her second Easter (she came home from the hospital on Easter Sunday!) this was her first time visiting the Easter Bunny. What a cute little smile she had! I went right to work scrapbooking a layout with this photo and set out to do something totally different than I normally would do.

Scrapbooking Tips

My first step was creating this colorful Easter egg backdrop. To create this look, I actually die cut a stencil using my Silhouette Cameo. I found this amazing Easter Egg Backdrop and cut it out of a thick white cardstock. I then took this cutout and laid it on top of a fresh sheet of 12x12 white cardstock I was using as my base page. To make sure the stencil wouldn't slip, I adhered it to the base page with washi tape.

This is where it got fun! Using water colors, I painted the Easter Eggs. I decided to use pastel colors and stick withe the same color palette for each design. Then, I carefully removed the stencil, and I let it dry over night.

The photo actually had the dark purple border with 2023 printed on it. I added some small Doodlebug Design letter stickers to create the title directly on this space.

To draw your eye to the photo in the middle of a busy background, I double matted it and added this cute around-the-corner title I cut with my Silhouette.

Once my photo was adhered to the base page, I carefully poked holes around the eggs, and a stitched a border with a complimentary color embroidery floss.

I admit that this layout is much busier than I typically like to create, but I really enjoyed the process. Using watercolors was a fun way to get a different looks, and I will definitely be looking for other ways to incorporate them into layouts in the future.
