Aren’t lazy summer days when you are a kid the best? The world is your playground with lots of sunshine and adventure. I loved the pace of summer when I was younger - lots of swimming in the pool, hanging with friends and day trips to Minerva Lake. . . So many good memories.

Part of Zach’s summer routine was jumping on the trampoline . . . For HOURS! Zach would be out there by himself just jumping. He never did any crazy tricks or flips. Just enjoyed the bouncing. I would look out the window and without him noticing, I would just watch him, enjoying the pure delight and, at times concentration on his face! This layout is just as much for me to remember my covert spying as it is for Zach to remember his love of the trampoline.

Scrapbooking Tips

Even though I had enough photos, I did not want to make a two-page layout because I knew my Summer 2020 album was already full! Also, five photos were more than plenty to tell this story and capture the memory.

I cropped four photos down to 3 x 3" and one photo and I only trimmed to 3x6". I wanted to make that particular photo the focal point - a shot of Zach in mid-air with a smile on his face. For two of the smaller square photos, I turned them into "polaroid" pictures by cutting photo matt out of white cardstock that were 3 1/2 x 4". I centered my picture along the top edge and left a larger border at the bottom. I've seen many scrapbookers use this technique and given the busy patterned papers I used I thought the smaller photos needed something extra to help them stand out.

Another fun element on this page is the die cut trampoline. I had so much fun with this!

I downloaded this die cut file and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo, using all scrips of cardstock. I backed it with a blue, black and a lighter gray. I'll be honest - this die cut trampoline was the whole reason I created this page. When I saw it in the Silhouette Design Store I instantly purchased it and thought of these photos of Zach. I love it when inspiration strikes like that! When I went through my sketches looking for a good layout idea, I deliberately looked for one that would work with a large die cut.

Another element I had fun playing with is the title. I was trying to think of something cute and witty, but I settled with just "Jump!" Then I had the idea to adhere the letters in a way that made it look like they were jumping on the trampoline. I was pleased with the overall effect.
