S'mores

One of the highlights of summer are all the yummy treats - especially S’Mores with cousins. On this particular night, the boys were excited because we were going over to Grammy and Grammy’s for swimming and S’Mores. Not an overly huge big deal, but in the summer of 2020, any social outing was an event!
These cousins swam, got sticky with melted marshmallows and chocolate and they had such an awesome time! I love all the smiling faces in the photos and seeing these cousins just happy to be together!
Scrapbooking Tips
I clearly remember the process for putting together this layout. I was getting together for a day crop and purposely decided to pack light. I grabbed my photos and a stack of Allison a Davis sketches that were designed for 6x6 paper pads and only two paper collections I was determined to use.

I really liked the colors in this Echo Park summer collection. I chose a sketch that had a bunch of 2x2 inch squares where I could use a lot of pattern paper and still have room for all the photos I wanted to use. It was smooth sailing UNTIL it came time to embellish the finished layout.
Originally, my plan was to die cut s’mores using my Silhouette Cameo, but I couldn’t get them to scale down small enough to fit in a 2x2 inch square. This layout sat unfinished in my scrap room while I was deciding how to finish it. Then, in the least likely place I found the perfect S’more stickers.

I was at the Dollar Tree, not even looking for craft supplies, when I saw these adorable stickers on an end cap. They were the perfect size to embellish the squares. The little smiley faces on them actually reminded me of Doodlebug Design stickers and it complimented the happy sticky faces you see in the photos.
I was super happy with the finished look, especially with it having sat unfinished in my scrap room for months. When I submitted layouts to Creative Scrapbooker Magazine’s summer page call, I included this layout on a whim. You never know right? Imagine my suprise when the editor requested it for the summer edition! I was proud that I didn’t settle and slap on just any ol’ sticker, but waited for the perfect finishing touch.
